Utrecht – The Buurtoren in the center of Utrecht will have to do without the bank lock for the foreseeable future. The iron of the age-old clapper has become too hard due to the loud ringing. That’s not good, because it can damage the bronze bell. “The softest always loses to the hardest,” explains manager Jaap van Engelenburg. “Normally the clapper is the softest, but not now.”
