Central African international Geoffrey Kondogbia signs for Olympique de Marseille

Captain of the Fauves of the national team of the Central African Republic, midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia signed up this Friday, June 30 with the French club Olympique de Marseille.

This was one of the priorities of the new OM coach Marcelino since his arrival at La Canebière on June 21. The Spanish technician, who led Geoffrey Kondogbia in Valencia (Spanish Liga) between 2017 and 2019, had put the Central African midfielder at the top of his list to strengthen the Marseille team.

This Friday, Geoffrey Kondogbia, after having validated his medical examination, therefore becomes the first recruit of the summer transfer window at OM. The transfer is estimated at around 8 million euros and the former Lensois signs a 4-year contract.

Captain of the national team of the Central African Republic, in the race for a first participation in the CAN, Geoffrey Kondogbia had already worn the jersey of the France team five times, but never in an official match. The native of Nemours (Ile-de-France) was also world champion with the France U20 team in 2013. He formed the midfield duo with Paul Pogba.

At 30, the midfielder, trained in Lens, passed through Seville, will return to Ligue 1, which he has not attended since 2015 and his departure from Monaco for Inter (Italy).
