Céline Dion’s sister Claudette says the singer’s condition has worsened. In an interview with the magazine 7 Jours, Claudette Dion says that the sister “works hard”, but no longer has control over her muscles.
Earlier this year, Céline Dion canceled her world tour because she was affected by the rare neurological disease stiff person syndrome, which causes involuntary muscle contractions.
Both the heart and vocal cords have been affected
No one knows if the 55-year-old singer will be able to stand on a stage again.
– It is of course in her and our dreams that she should be able to return to the stage, but in what condition? I do not know. Both the vocal cords and the heart are muscles affected by the disease, says Claudette Dion.
According to the sister, a third sister, Lina, has been staying with Céline Dion in Las Vegas and taking care of her since she went public with the disease. Céline Dion has three children, 22-year-old René-Charles and 13-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy with her late husband and manager René Angélil.
