Sarnia’s annual Celebration of Lights Bus Tour is back.
The decades-running annual tour of Christmas lights — canceled in 2020 and 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic — is scheduled this year for Dec. 15 and 16.
The $3 tickets go on sale starting Monday.
“We usually sell out every year,” Sarnia transportation manager Michelle Carter said.
The roughly 35-minute bus routes travel by the Celebration of Lightscity homes entered in the Celebration of Lights lighting competition and a few others selected by tour officials, she said.
The route will likely be finalized by the end of next week, she added.
“We add little bits throughout the city to try to make it a complete route,” Carter said
Three buses will conduct a total of 10 tours per night from 6:30 pm to the final departure at 8:45 pm
Non-perishable food items will also be accepted for the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Carter said
Mostly families with young children comprised the tour passengers, she said, noting children who can sit on a parent or guardian’s lap ride free.
“A lot of our drivers really like driving the Celebration of Lights,” she said. “They like being involved and they like seeing it as well, driving families around.”
The bus tours have been running for at least two decades now, she said.
“Families look forward to it,” she said. “Every year, we have some people that call and they can’t wait to know it’s happening again.”
Tickets can be purchased at the city hall customer service center or by calling 519-332-0330 ext. 3131 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday, city officials said.
