CdM approves 13 billion energy decree fuel bonus introduced

(Finance) – On the proposal of Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Council of Ministers approved the energy decree with interventions for the fourth quarter of the year, from 1 October to 31 December 2023, to support families to mitigate increases in bills and fuel prices. It is refinanced with an additional 100 million for 2023 card “Dedicated to you” for families with at least three members and ISEE up to 15 thousand euros and can also be used for the purchase of fuel. The government also decided to refinance the transport bonus aimed at families, students and low-income workers: a contribution of up to 60 euros for the purchase of local, regional, interregional and national rail transport season tickets.

The decree strengthens the contribution for families with ISEE up to 15 thousand euros (30 thousand euros with at least 4 children) who already benefit from the social bonus for electricity and gas bills. The measure, which will be extended again, is strengthened in the last quarter of the year based on the number of family members (300 million euros).

Furthermore, the reduction of VAT to 5% on sales was also confirmed for the fourth quarter of the year supply of methane gas for civil and industrial uses.

The resetting of the data has also been extended system charges for the gas sector and the VAT rate reduced to 5% for district heating and for energy produced with methane gas.
