In the survey, Statistics Netherlands refers to broad prosperity, a term used to measure the quality of life. That consists of more than just income or other economic factors. The 34 assessment points are divided over several themes such as well-being, the environment and material prosperity. The province of Utrecht scores high on broad prosperity ‘here and now’. This category includes, for example, satisfaction with life, contact with family, friends or neighbours, trust in institutions and the distance to facilities and nature reserves.
