Cayde-6 returns! Destiny 2 presents first glimpses of its next DLC

When everything feels like it’s going down the drain in Destiny 2, the universe is about to end and the prospect of rescue seems out of reach, then only a gunslinger with the biggest ego that the loot shooter has ever seen can help. And that’s exactly what Bungie announced at the PlayStation Show for the final DLC in the Light and Darkness saga. Cayde-6 ♠ is back!

What huge spoiler did Bungie reveal? Many gamers and guardians followed Sony’s PlayStation show yesterday, as it was already suspected that details about Bungie’s future plans would be revealed there. And that’s exactly how it was.

The heart of the Marathon gameplay is PvP, but that’s not all. We are building a rich, immersive world that will offer many opportunities for exploration and conflict – both against other players and against AI enemies.

We attach great importance to security and focus on strict anti-cheat measures, dedicated servers, global data centers, active community communication and feedback, and much more. Ultimately, we want to ensure that the competitive gaming experience in Marathon is fair and fun for everyone.

  • Shortly thereafter, a familiar face appeared in another teaser trailer, as Bungie gave Destiny 2 players an exciting look ahead to the final DLC in the Light and Darkness saga in 2024.

So Cayde-6, the lovable yet most arrogant Exo-Guardian, is back again to save the universe, and he’d probably sneer and say, “Somebody’s gotta do it!”

Cayde who? If you don’t know the cocky hero or have already forgotten it again: He was not only the contact person for the hunter vanguard, noodle soup destroyer and a gunslinger, but also a tragic hero in Destiny 2. Oh yes, and actually he is dead as a mouse. Killed at the hands of Uldren Sov, now known to you as the Crow in game.

Back then, in 2018, in the Forsaken DLC, players had to watch Cayde-6 succumb to a tragic fate and die from a shot from his own gun. Many thought this would be the end for the popular character, but Bungie may have other plans.

With his cheeky, sarcastic manner and his outstanding shooting skills with his handgun “ace of spades” he has occupied a special place in the hearts of some Destiny 2 players.

  • For some he was a fan favorite because he often made them smile with his cool manner in the game.
  • Others, on the other hand, couldn’t stand him at all and were glad that he was gone.
  • So that he is not forgotten, Bungie has erected a monument on the tower in Lightfall and thus brought him back to the memory of the players.

Destiny 2 is renovating the tower in Lightfall to finally honor a special character after 4 years

What awaits the Guardians in The Final Form? Season 21 is currently running, so the new DLC, which is due to appear in 2024 and will complete the story of Destiny 2, is still a long way off.

Still, it promises to be an epic finale to the Light and Darkness saga. While details are still sparse, the developers have provided some speculative glimpses into the story.

  • Already, the forces of light and darkness are irreconcilably opposed, and the Guardians must face their ultimate test to determine the fate of the universe.
  • So in Season 21, the Vanguard continues to work to follow the Witness, and thus the Darkness, through the mysterious portal that has been kaleidoscopically opened within the Traveler. The Titan Joxer was brave and attempted to fly through it alone, experiencing strange things, according to Lore, before dying horribly.
  • A first look inside the traveller? In the trailer it seems as if this has finally been achieved. Ikora is seen in a fairly peaceful world. Nothing is left, just a paradisiacal landscape, the great portal opened by the veil, and Cayde-6.

Is Ikora here inside the Traveler? On the other side of the portal?

So have we seen a first glimpse inside the Traveler? Quite possible! Perhaps it is where the light bearers end, when their light leaves them, back in the traveler as part of their being.

We’re here now. Wherever “here” is.

Cayde-6 itself also looks a little different.

  • His weapon, the exotic handgun he designed, the Ace of Spades, has oddly radiating cracks as if it had been broken and put back together.
  • The Exo’s eyes also glow, as if the Light of the Traveler is shining out of them. He probably doesn’t seem quite the same anymore, more like a memory returning to calm Ikora and save fate.
  • And there is one more thing that stands out: Will there perhaps even be a meeting with Uldren Sov, aka Crow, his killer? And will he then take revenge? Or is he just back to serve as a mentor and ally to the Guardians?

After all, not only Cayde-6 is back on board. His former voice actor in the English original Nathan Fillion (known from series such as Castle or Firefly) will again take up the dubbing as Cayde for the Destiny universe. And that could also be the case beyond the final DLC, when the first saga ends and Bungie Destiny 2 merges into a new universe.

When will there be more about the DLC “The Final Form”? On August 22, 2023, Bungie will host a live stream where the Destiny development team will share everything you need to know about the new DLC, The Final Form, and give a preview of the future of Destiny 2. So it will be exciting and for many Guardians it will be a decision as to whether or not to remain loyal to Destiny.

How did you like the little view? Did you discover any other details that you found exciting? And of course the question: What do you think about the return of Cayde-6? Best step? Or just warmed up old times? Leave us your opinion in the comments.

Season 21 has also given a new lease of life, making Wardens hate shotguns even more in PvP:
