Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 index was up 0.6 percent in early trade, while the broader Topix index was flat and also opened up 0.6.
The Shanghai Composite rose 0.4 percent in early trade and the Shenzhen Composite followed suit, opening the trading day up 0.4 percent.
The stock exchange in Hong Kong has continued to be closed for the weekend.
