For years she was the presenter of Battle of the Reality Stars: former player’s wife and influencer Cathy Hummels. Now RTL2 has made a surprising decision that has shaken the show to its foundations: Cathy Hummels will no longer host the show. You can find out what Hummels has to say about it here.
Persistent criticism: Cathy Hummels was not well received on TV
Battle of the Reality Stars is one of the most popular formats in trash TV. The show always boasted an outstanding cast that provided pure drama every year. However, one person was always criticized: presenter Cathy Hummels. She was the face of the format since the show began, but she was never really that popular. The ex-player’s wife always seemed timid and reserved next to the tough reality stars – her manner was as exciting as the daily weather report. The fact that Cathy Hummels has repeatedly been in the gossip press with minor and major scandals in recent months has not exactly increased her popularity. For years, the accusation has been the same: Cathy Hummels cheated her way into the spotlight through her famous ex and cannot live up to the high expectations. When you look at tough presenters like Sophia Thomalla, Hummels always seems like a schoolchild. A mortal sin for a rowdy format like Battle of the Reality Stars.
Cathy Hummels is out: This is what she says about her end at Battle of the Reality Stars
Many fans will be grateful: As RTL2 confirmed to DWDL, Cathy Hummels will no longer be taking part in the next season of Battle of the Reality Stars. According to Hummels, there are private reasons for her departure. As a mother, she cannot leave her young son alone during school hours:
My son has been to Thailand with me every year, except once during Corona – and this separation almost broke my heartNow that he is starting his first real school year, I want to be by his side as a mother, do homework with him, prepare him for tests, just be there for him.RTL2 comments on the end of Cathy Hummels’ career: This is what the broadcaster has to say
There doesn’t seem to be any bad blood at RTL2. The station wishes Cathy Hummels all the best. Program director Malte Kruber has positive words for the young mother: “I wish Cathy lots of luck and success in everything she does, both privately and professionally. And maybe her path will lead her back to RTLzwei.”
Who knows: Maybe Hummels will return to the show at a later date. After the ongoing criticism of her moderation skills, that is rather doubtful.
