(Finance) – The route between Hong Kong and New York, operated by Cathay Pacificwill be modified and diverted over the Atlantic to avoid overflight of Russian airspace.
In this way, it will become the longest commercial flight in the world: 16,668 km which will be covered in about 17 hours. The choice of the transatlantic deviation with respect to the possibility of following the transpacific one is due to the presence of strong seasonal winds at high altitude in this period.
As for the duration record, however, remains the prerogative of Singapore Airlines, which covers the 15,343 km between Singapore and New York in 18 hours.
