Catering how many hires between February and April

(Finance) – There will be 172,440 hirings in the catering sector between February and April this year13% more than the same quarter of 2023. The figure represents 70% of the total expected for the entire tourism sector, which will need 246,270 workers in the period considered. With the beautiful season upon us and the arrival of holidays and long weekends which mainly affect the beginning of spring, seasonal businesses are preparing to reopen their doors in view of the resumption of tourist flows, placing tourism in second place among the sectors most active in the search for personnel.

This was made known, based on Unioncamere-Excelsior data, by the Study Center of FIPE-Confcommercio, the Italian Federation of Public Businesses, according to which expectations on attendance in the month of April 2024 are positive and should at least confirm the numbers for 2023, when they reached 28 million.

Those are the professions related to catering which offer greater job opportunities: in February alone the demand was 40,390 workers. THEAt the top of the most sought after professional figures are waiters, with over 65,000 profiles in the quarter. Then come chefs with 41,720 expected hires and bartenders with over 23,900 positions to fill.

Specifically, in 56.7% of cases we are looking for staff who already have specific experience in the sector, demonstrating that professionalism is favoured, with a preference for the age group between 25 and 44 years. In light of these trends, just under one company in two (49.2%) still complains of difficulties in finding staff, mainly due to the small number of candidates. A dynamic which, however, appears to be contracting, albeit slightly, when compared to that of 2023, when the share of companies complaining about difficulties in finding staff was 52%.
