Anyone who plays at a high level and wants to try out a different character in World of Warcraft is suffering right now. Because that’s where the system fails.
World of Warcraft has evolved from a character-centric game to an account-centric game with The War Within. What you have worked out once on the account should apply to all characters. This also includes many catch-up mechanisms to quickly equip secondary characters. However, this only applies to an intermediate level of play. Anyone who likes to play the hardest content will have to invest several times as much time to catch up with a twink.
What’s the problem? Basically, World of Warcraft now has quite a few and quite good “catch-up” mechanisms for equipping characters up to a certain level. Exactly this limit, which is usually at item level 626 – i.e. the maximum possible that can be achieved with “heroic” items.
Just to collect the coats of arms necessary for the upgrade, you would currently have to complete around 100 dungeons on “Mythic+” that are at least level 8 or higher.
But this time investment wouldn’t be everything, because getting items that can be upgraded to that extent is only possible via the weekly chest in Dornogal or the mythical raid. Alternatively, you can also craft equipment at item level 636.
What does the community want? There are many possible solutions and the ideas are quite different. Above all, most want their time in the game to be respected. If you already have a character very well equipped, it should be easier to bring a second character up to the same level so that you can play the same content as with the main. Some of the most popular suggestions are:
The topic is currently being discussed quite lively in the WoW subreddit. However, most people seem to agree that it should be much easier to bring second characters up to the level of the main. This may take a while, but it must be possible more quickly than before.
Although The War Within is already extremely “twink-friendly” and allows you to quickly bring up second characters to a certain level, if you play the hardest content in the game, this is virtually impossible and takes far more time. Maybe Blizzard will take inspiration from other games – like the most famous WoW symbol.
