The province of Utrecht has no less than 285 historic country estates, which is a lot compared to other provinces. Keeping your head above water is sometimes not easy. “You have to deal with large construction projects, rising costs and a lack of professionals,” says Max Schimmelpenninck, director of the Dutch Castle Foundation.
