The diagnosis of scabies in patients who go to polyclinics complaining of itching is increasing day by day. Although the number of patients diagnosed with scabies varies from region to region, the situation is serious.
“ONE IN 2 CASES IS SCABE”
Infectious Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Esin Davutoğlu Şenol said, “3-4 out of 30-40 cases that come to polyclinics with itching and rash, that is, 1 out of 10 cases, are scabies.” Dermatology Specialist Prof. Dr. Diden Dinçer Rota stated that one of the 2 incoming patients had a case of scabies and stated that the situation was even worse.
“ON HANDS AND ANkles…”
Experts warn, but if precautions are not taken, the epidemic observed in the field may increase further. Prof. Dr. Rota said, “There are very itchy lesions in the form of a thin line between the fingers, around the chest in women, in the genital area, and on the wrists and ankles in men. The itching in these lesions can wake people up in the middle of the night.”
AREAS THAT MAY BE INFECTED
The number of cases is increasing day by day due to the increase in the number of irregular immigrants, collective living in earthquake zones and falling immunity with the pandemic. Crowded areas such as schools, restaurants, hotels and even public transportation are the areas where the risk of contamination is highest.
EVEN 15 MINUTES IS ENOUGH
According to FOX News, people the scabies patient comes into contact with and lives in the same area are also at risk. Even 15 minutes of contact increases the risk.
Prof. Dr. Rota said, “All our belongings should be washed at 60 degrees and hot ironed. We should keep unwashed clothes in sealed bags for 10-15 days.” said.
