A family of four got stuck on a bridge while trying to drive over the River Gardon in Dions, north of Nîmes, late Saturday night. The mother has been found and taken to hospital, but the father and the two children are still missing.
Two women also raised the alarm from a bridge in Goudargues before the call was suddenly cut short. A Belgian man is feared to have been swept from a bridge in Gagnières and in Saint-Martin-de-Valamas the manager of a hydroelectric plant has been missing since he went out to check on the plant on Saturday night.
All the vehicles washed away have been found, but there is still “not a trace” of the missing, according to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
