During the debate, Van der Plas was removed from the stage by security. This led to surprised reactions in the audience. Afterwards Van der Plas said that this has nothing to do with the farmers, but with a person in the room. The politician said about this to the program Heart of the Netherlands: “It has to do with someone who does not belong to the farmers. I felt very unsafe about that. In the end, something happened that I am not saying anything about. That made me think: I am going to leave the stage now.”
