Caroline Seger’s heartbreaking words to Marika Domanski Lyfors

Marika Domanski Lyfors has a malignant tumor in her brain and is fighting for her life.
During Caroline Seger’s departure at Tele2 Arena, there was an emotional meeting between the national team star and the former national team captain.
– I am grateful that she was able and had the energy to share that moment with me. It will be in my heart forever, says Seger.

After 240 international matches for Sweden, the midfielder has Caroline Victory39, chose to give thanks. She won two Olympic silvers and three WC bronzes with the national team and is the woman who has played the most international matches for Sweden. She has been awarded the Diamond Ball twice and she also managed to win five SM golds (one of which this year) with Rosengård.

Caroline Seger was dismissed after the international match

Seger was properly thanked for her time in the women’s national team after Sweden’s 6-0 victory against Serbia at the Tele2 Arena on Tuesday evening. Not only did Sweden secure a ticket to European Championship 2025, after the match Caroline Seger had to receive the cheers of the people inside the arena.
– It was magical. So nice. It was a nice end to a long career, she says according to Sportbladet.

When she herself was to give a speech down on the lawn, she had been joined by the former national team manager and the national team captain Marika Domanski Lyfors64, who suffered a brain tumor in April. Seger had asked to wait with his resignation until cancer patient Domanski Lyfors could be present.
– It has been very important to me that she should be there. So I am grateful that she had the strength and energy to share that moment with me. It will be in my heart forever, says Caroline Seger.

Victory whispered to Marika Domanski Lyfors

A visibly taken Seger then leaned forward towards her former trainer and whispered something in her ear. Now she reveals what it was that she actually said to Marika Domanski Lyfors.
– I said: “Keep it together now because I can’t do it, I need your help”. But she didn’t help much, says Seger.

When the news that Domanski Lyfors had a malignant tumor that cannot be surgically removed came last spring, Seger was in despair. She has always had a close relationship with Marika.
– It is extremely heavy. She means everything to Swedish football, and she has been with me my whole adult life. So, incredibly heavy of course. But then… Hope is the last thing that abandons you and she is a fighter. So we support her in this difficult time, she said earlier.

This is so beautiful and so sad at the same time. Thank you Caroline Seger for a wonderful career and for all the work you put in for the national team.
