After a total of five SM golds with Rosengård, the home crowd thanked Caroline Seger.
Already on the march, the 39-year-old shed tears.
– It’s sad when it’s your greatest love since you were a child, she says to Sydsvenskan.
As early as October 4, the superb Rosengård secured the SM gold in football and when Linköping came to Skåne, the team’s 24th victory out of a possible 25 came via a 4–0 victory.
Above all, however, the women’s all-svenskan meeting was about that it was Caroline Segers last home game in Rosengård’s career. When she marched in with her teammates on Malmö IP’s artificial turf, her eyes teared up.
Seger’s farewell
After 76 minutes, the fourth official held up the sign where number 17 was lit up red and Seger left Malmö IP for the last time as a Rosengård player. The last match will be against Djurgården at Stockholm’s stadium on Saturday 9 November.

During the fall, it sounded like she was wavering about whether she should stop altogether, but now the 39-year-old seems to be seeing the end.
– I’ve had a few suggestions, but nothing that feels so super cool. I don’t want to do something just because – I’m not there in my career. I wanted to finish here with Rosengård and take that time after to feel how it feels not to play football. It will be a sick emptiness, says Caroline Seger to Sydsvenskan after the signing.

Victory was not the only one to be thanked. The sports manager Therese Sjögran in December takes over as head of football for the women’s section of the English major club Manchester City.
Several are now leaving
The Japanese success loan Momoko Tanikawa – The 19-year-old has accounted for 15 goals and shares the scoring league lead with Hammarbys Cathinka Tandberg – returns to Bayern Munich and center back Emma Berglund’s contract expires.

It was with Linköping that Seger in 2009 won its first of seven SM golds, but the Ostrogothic club is currently struggling to avoid the qualifying games. Ahead of the last round on Saturday, Linköping has three points down on AIK, but a worse goal difference, in the qualification spot. The team finishes against Vittsjö and AIK takes on IFK Norrköping.
