Defenders Anttoni Honka and Aleksi Heimosalmi, who play in the organization of the NHL club Carolina Hurricanes, were in a good mood in the training match against Tampa Bay.

The Carolina Hurricanes played their Finnish defenders Anttoni Honkaa and Aleksi Heimosalmea with good success in the hockey NHL training match against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Honka scored Carolina’s 1-1 equalizing goal in the second period and Heimosalmi decided the 2-1 victory 45 seconds before the final buzzer. Forwards also played in Carolina’s ranks Juha Jääskä and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Star striker Sebastian Aho was not in the training match in the team’s composition.

23-year-old Honka and 21-year-old Heimosalmi are both still without NHL experience. Honka from Jyväskylä played for the AHL club Chicago Wolves in the second season, but returned to JYP on loan last season.

In turn, Heimosalmi, booked by Carolina in the second round of the draft in 2021, has played in the SM league in Ässi for the past three seasons. Like Honga, he will start the season in Carolina’s farm team Chicago Wolves.

The NHL Regular Season starts on Friday, October 4 in Prague. NHL hockey will be played in North America from October 8.
