The Carolina Hurricanes didn’t give the Washington Capitals a chance in the outdoor NHL match. Columbus Blue Jackets’ Joonas Korpisalo avoided a surprise win against the Dallas Stars.

The first outdoor match in the Carolina Hurricanes’ history ended in victory with the Finns leading the way. Carolina beat the Washington Capitals in the sold-out Carter Finley Stadium with a clear score of 4–1.

The Finnish duo Jesperi Kotkaniemi–Teuvo Teräväinen recorded a score of 1+1 for the match. Martin Necas on the other hand, had a three-point night (1+2).

Kotkaniemi already took Carolina into the lead in 2:11, when Teräväinen played brilliantly at the back post. Kotkaniemi’s tenth hit of the season was the fourth fastest in history in an outdoor match.

– In such matches, you want to take the lead. I’m really proud of the way the players went into the match. I already talked about the atmosphere before the game, but it was really special when the game started like this, Carolina head coach Rod Brind’Amour amazed.

– I haven’t experienced an outdoor match before, but honestly I don’t know how it could be better, Brind’Amour continued.

In the second inning, Carolina escaped with three hits. Necas hit a shot with the advantage of the game to 3–0 in 28:48 and initiated Teräväinen’s hit a few minutes later.

– I enjoyed every second. In games like this, you try to focus on the match, but still feel the fans and the energy. This was my first outdoor match and it was incredible, Necas said.

The Carolina players were dressed according to the theme they chose for the match. The players wore, for example, checkered caps, ties and white golf shoes.

The players also ended the victorious evening by playfully hitting their gloves in the center circle with their clubs, golf style.

Carolina already won its third match in a row. During the last 14 matches, the team has lost only twice.

Washington, on the other hand, is on a four-game losing streak. The team has played the last three matches without their captain Aleksandr Ovechkinwho has been on the sidelines due to the death of his father.

Columbus surprised Dallas

The Dallas Stars fell out of the top spot in the Western Conference when they collided with the Finnish goalkeeper Joonas Korpisaloo. The 28-year-old Korpisalo made 28 saves when the Columbus Blue Jackets surprised the Stars 4–1.

Korpisalo made a tasty save at the beginning of the third period when he stopped the game at 1-1 by Fredrik Olofsson with his glove defense. Moments later, Columbus took the lead and finally scored three goals in the final set.

Korpisalo is in high spirits. He has saved 104 times in the last week or so and conceded only five goals. The strikeout percentage is a handsome 95.4.

Great passes from Maccelli

The Arizona Coyotes, who are playing in the NHL, are having a great season Matias Maccelli was on his way again and led his team to the winning goal contest against the Los Angeles Kings. Maccelli scored two very identical goals.
