Car overturned after police chase

A car overturned and landed on its roof after a police chase in Kalmar on Monday evening.
Two men and a woman, all aged 25, have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

On Monday evening at 21:04, a police patrol tries to stop a car for inspection at Ljungbyholm in Kalmar municipality. Then the driver refuses to stop.

The police start a pursuit. Shortly afterwards, the passenger car overturns and lands on the roof.

Emergency services and ambulance medical services are called to the scene.

– A person is stuck in the car that the emergency services are working to get out. Possibly the car will be cut open, says Viktoria Björkman, emergency operator at the South East Rescue Service to TV4 Nyheterna.

Three people to hospital

Two men and a woman, all aged 25, have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The extent of the damage is still unclear.

The driver of the car, one of the men, is suspected of serious drunken driving and illegal driving.

According to the police, additional criminal charges may be added.
