Numerous exciting sci-fi series will start this year. Probably the craziest project is probably the post-apocalyptic action comedy Twisted Metal. The film adaptation of the PlayStation hit sends new Captain America actor Anthony Mackie on a trip full of psychotic characters.
Twisted Metal could become an absolutely weird serial event. This is underlined by the newly released first scene clip, in which Mackie’s main character is attacked by a beefy psycho-clown (played by wrestler Samoa Joe and voiced by Will Arnett) – and then suddenly both of them sing Sisqó’s thong song.

After the clip you are a bit clueless what Twisted Metal is all about? Here is the short version of the plot: Anthony Mackie plays a man named John Doe who must transport a mysterious package across the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Divided States of America. The roap trip evolves into a fight for survival.
On his journey, among other things, a psychotic highway cop, brutal robbers in armed cars and of course the ice cream truck driving horror clown Sweet Tooth stand in the way. Luckily, John doesn’t have to fight them alone. He is supported by the axe-wielding car thief Quiet.
Not just the completely wacky sci-fi concept of Twisted Metal sparks anticipation, but so does the cast. Joining Anthony Mackie are Broklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz, Marvel Sandman Thomas Haden Church and Scream icon Neve Campbell.
The video game adaptation was developed by Deadpool and Zombieland authors Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for the Peacock streaming service. Showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith, who previously worked on the writing staff of the Netflix series Cobra Kai, is writing the script.
When and where does Twisted Metal start in Germany?
In the USA, Twisted Metal already starts on July 27, 2023 on the Peacock streaming service with all 10 approximately 30-minute episodes.
When and where the post-apocalyptic action comedy will be shown in Germany is not yet known. A release on Sky and WOW would be possible, where the Peacock hit Poker Face can currently be seen.
