Capri closes to tourists after acute water shortage

According to Capri’s mayor Paolo Falco, Capri is now facing an explosive health and hygiene situation that would have risked worsening if the decision had not been taken to close the island to visitors.

Since Saturday morning, only resident Capri residents are allowed to disembark on the island. So far, however, the water supply is intact on large parts of the island, but it is unclear how long the water will last.

There is currently no forecast as to when the water supply to the island may be restored.
