  • Raw onions, due to their content of sulfur compounds
  • Acidic drinks like soda, citrus juice, energy drinks, and soft drinks that are high in citric or phosphoric acid
  • Alcohol can dehydrate the mouth, thus promoting mouth ulcers. Strong alcoholic drinks, such as spirits, may be more irritating than wine or beer
  • Coffee and tea can dry out the mouth and potentially cause irritation.
