CANDLE The Guadalimar Trophy returns after the break due

It has been two years without the Guadalimar Trophy in Abra waters. The pandemic prevented its celebration in 2020 and 2021 and this year it can be held if the weather conditions allow it (March 26 and 27). The 2022 dinghy sailing calendar organized by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club had established its start usually with this Guadalimar Trophy, which is now disputed after the Fhimasa League.

Around 50 boats and 70 participants from the Optimist, 420, Snipe, FEVA and ILCA classes will sail in the Biscayan waters of the Abra in a competition that will reveal the fittest sailors at this time of the season. They will take part in the six scheduled tours, three of them on Saturday the 26th and another three on Sunday the 27th (12 and 11 hours, respectively). Each season, this Guadalimar Trophy represents one of the first events of this dinghy sailing specialty at the Las Arenas Club. The RCMA-RSC sailors also come from obtaining good results in the waters of Santander.

In addition to this Guadalimar Trophy, the Real Club Marítimo de Abra-Real Sporting Club program this year various outstanding dinghy sailing events in the Abra such as the XIX José Luis Azqueta Trophy (April 23 and 24), the XXXI Fashion Outlet Trophy – José Luis de Ugarte Sailing School (September 24 and 25) or the recently created Fhimasa Juan Manuel Alonso-Allende Trophy of the Snipe class (September 3 and 4). The Bizkaia Championship, the Ramón Real de Asúa Memorial or the Christmas Trophy will also be played.

The last Guadalimar Trophy was decided in the Abra in 2019 after five routes with final victory of Jaime Hernando and Telma Aja in the FEVA class, César Gutiérrez in the Laser 4.7 class, Tomás Trueba in Laser Radial, Juan Olábarri and Miguel Antona in the class 420, Gabriel Oraá in Optimist A class and Álvaro Bouza in Optimist B.
