candidates campaign accounts approved despite some anomalies

The National Commission for Campaign Accounts and Political Financing has combed through the expenses of candidates for the 2022 presidential election and issued a positive opinion, despite some financial sanctions.

The Reconquest candidate Éric Zemmour is revolted for having benefited from the spotlight of the CNews channel. A forum that does not correspond to electoral law, according to the National Commission for Campaign Accounts and Political Funding (CNCCFP). He receives the largest fixed penalty, 200,000 euros.

For the boss of the National Rally (RN), these are buses bearing her image which do not correspond to the rules for displaying the electoral campaign. Some 300,000 euros of reimbursement were therefore deducted. An amount that Marine Le Pen disputes before the Constitutional Council.

100,000 euros for using presidential Twitter

The winner Emmanuel Macron is the one who spent the most: more than 16 million euros. And he is being pinned for using his president’s Twitter account for his candidate campaign. Result: 100,000 euros in reimbursement minus his campaign costs. The CNCCFP also decided to exclude several costs, including some 30,000 euros paid to a photographer, a bonus that must be paid by the presidential party, according to the Commission.

For the rest, no reimbursement of trips deemed irrelevant for the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon deemed the number of stickers printed for the occasion – 1.2 million – unjustified. The same goes for Airbnb accommodation for campaign employees of the ecologist Yannick Jadot or even tickets bought by Jean Lassalle to attend a rugby match.

The model student of this campaign is Nathalie Arthaud, the Lutte Ouvrière (LO) candidate, the only one to make a clean sheet with accounts without irregularity after a particularly sober campaign.
