Secret Story is back in 2024 on TF1. A new season with a concept, rules and a cast of renewed candidates, promises the production of the reality TV game…
Secret Story is a reality TV show adapted from the English program called Big Brother. Broadcast for the first time on TF1 on June 23, 2007, it was initially presented by Benjamin Castaldi then, from 2015, by Christophe Beaugrand. The principle: in a magnificent house cut off from the outside world, girls and boys, aged 18 to 30, agree to live in seclusion for several weeks. Each person hides a secret, unspeakable or more banal, that the others must discover, thanks to clues scattered around the house and challenges launched by the famous “Voice”. Viewers have exclusive access to the secrets, jealously guarded by each of the candidates, but also follow the daily adventures of the fifteen guinea pigs. Internal wars, rivalries, alliances or crushes, behind closed doors reveals the personalities and failings of the participants. Each week, a candidate is eliminated, until the final duel which sees the most convincing winner. The prize is a sum of 100,000 euros for the winner in addition to a prize pool accumulated during the various events.
After a launch in the second half of the evening on TF1 in 2007, Secret Story saw its audiences drop until it was relegated to TNT from season 10, broadcast in full on the NT1 channel. With audiences remaining in decline, for both daily and primetime, the show was abandoned in 2017. This will not, however, prevent the TF1 group from relaunching Secret Story in 2024, with a revisited concept around a more family-friendly program. and more focused on the game and the tests. Far from the clashes, trash and stories of couples (or even sex) that made its reputation until now, promises the production.
In 2024, Secret Story takes place in Poissy, in Yvelines. The producer Endemol decided to transform a 3500 m2 warehouse into a splendid house with a 1000 m2 garden, equipped with a 40 m2 swimming pool. The candidates’ every move will be filmed by 73 cameras in total.
Who are the Secret Story candidates
For now, the casting of Secret Story 12 is not known. TF1 and Endemol simply indicated that 22,000 applications had been received during the casting phase and that only around fifteen candidates were selected. The production insists on the choice of “authentic” and “accessible” personalities for this 2024 season. “We did not want reality TV professionals, who come with the aim of becoming influencers. We focused on players, with sunny personalities who the public can identify with, we found fun candidates, who managed to make us laugh at the casting stage!”, a member of the production told Télé 7. days.
Who is the latest winner of Secret Story?
In around ten seasons, Secret Story has seen several winners. The Triplets caused a sensation during the first season, then the names piled up without really staying in the memory: Matthias, Émilie, Benoît, Marie, Nadège, Anaïs, Leïla, Julien… The latest winner is Noré Abdelali , who won a total of 116,866 euros at the end of the season 11 finale, broadcast in December 2022. His secret: he was married to another candidate of the season, Kamila Tir-Abdelali.
What is the release date for Secret Story?
After the launch of the 12th season, scheduled for April 23, 2024, at 11:30 p.m., on TF1, the broadcast date of Secret Story 2024 has been set each evening from Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. Eliminations are announced during the Friday daily. No other show was therefore planned for late evening or even prime time. The objective stated by TF1 is in particular to reach a wider audience, available at the end of the afternoon. A rebroadcast of Secret Story has also been scheduled at 7:05 p.m. on TFX.
Secret Story now focuses on streaming
For the 2024 season of Secret Story, TF1 is particularly focusing on streaming viewing of the different episodes on its free platform TF1+. In addition to making daily newspapers available, fans can connect every day to the “house of secrets”, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., then between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Short live sessions which are undoubtedly the real asset of the program for the group.
