Tearful farewells, dramas of jealousy and newly ignited love: big emotions are in the foreground on the RTL dome show Bauer sucht Frau. When long-term singles compete for the heart of their dream farmer, broken hearts are not long in coming.
In the international edition of the show with Inka Bause, feelings boil over again: a cocoa farmer from Guatemala causes heartache, his candidate leaves upset.

Farmer is looking for a wife is a real long-running hit on TV. The format already has 20 seasons and several spin-offs under its belt. Even if the show likes to give itself a romantic veneer as a contact point for lonely farmers, in reality another aspect ensures ratings: Audiences love watching outsiders clumsily attempt flirting in front of the camera.
Since it was first broadcast in 2005, some couples have tied the knot, but in most cases their happiness threatens to fail during court week. This is also the case with Andreas (63) and Elke (62).

They could still laugh: Farmer Andreas and Elke.
Farmer Andreas has created his own paradise in Guatemala. The emigrant used to have a successful career, then he decided to make a drastic new start – as a cocoa farmer in the jungles of Central America. But for perfect happiness, he still needs the right woman at his side. The candidates Petra and Elke feel comfortable on the farm, but then the mood changes.
Candidate Elke would like more time alone with the farmer to really get to know him. For the three of them, the situation is extremely unpleasant. As can be seen in the RTL video, she finds clear words for her frustration:
When Petra came along, I thought to myself: Okay, now I can’t get any further with Andreas. Now we are back on the road as a team of three. That’s what I don’t want anymore.
The farmer also gets a lot of fat off. He couldn’t decide quickly enough on one of the two women. In a conversation between the three of us, Elke makes this harsh judgment:
But when I realize that the man can’t make a decision and he doesn’t have my back and support me, then I have a really hard time dealing with it. I don’t want my feelings to be played with.
Elke vented her anger and drew clear conclusions. She leaves the field for her competitor Petra and decides to leave early. Still, she doesn’t seem like a sore loser. “All the best”she wishes to the two remaining people.

The 63-year-old did not expect Elke’s sudden departure at all. He says: “I was really floored by that.”
Andreas is surprised and explains Elke’s decision with a spontaneous reaction:
You shouldn’t interpret anything. Probably out of emotion. Whatever that was, I can’t understand it.
At least the decision was quickly made for the hesitant cocoa farmer. From now on he can concentrate fully on Petra.
