Canceled train after Vasaloppet – skier Johan: “A disappointment”

When the skier Johan Fessé was going to skip the car and instead booked a train home after the Vasaloppet in early March, it later turned out that SJ canceled the evening trip between Mora and Stockholm.

– I felt how an inherent disappointment spread from the stomach, says Johan Fessé.

– There is quite a lot of preparation for a Vasalopp, partly with training but also all the logistics around accommodation and travel. Then this becomes a bit difficult. It’s also not that easy to find a hotel room in Mora that evening if you were to book a trip the next day instead, says Johan Fessé.

“Lots of people who want to get home”

The Vasalopps organization has tried to contact SJ to see if it is possible to resolve the situation.

– We see that there are two canceled departures on both Sundays when we have a lot of people here who we want to be able to help get home, says Magnus Locken, head of arrangements at Vasaloppet.

SJ’s turnaround

When SVT asks Martin Drakenberg, business manager Dalarna-Stockholm at SJ, about the canceled train, he opens up that the train can be reintroduced.

– I almost dare to promise that it will appear and become bookable again, but it is with the Swedish Transport Administration now, says Martin Drakenberg.
