Felix Auger-Aliassime secured victory when he defeated Alex de Minaur 6–3, 6–4.
Then, before that, Denis Shapovalov had given the Canadians a winning start by winning over Thanasi Kokkinakis 6–2, 6–4.
Shapovalov had lost both of his singles matches earlier in the week and needed treatment for back problems in the semi-final against Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego.
But the left-handed Canadian didn’t seem to have any problems during the final.
Canada was in the finals in 2019 as well and then fell to Spain.
