Federal captain Bev Priestman’s team made sure to book their place after beating Panama in the North and Central American qualifiers. 21-year-old Julia Grosso, everyday in the Italian big club Juventus, became a national hero with the match’s only goal.
Elsewhere, Costa Rica made sure to accompany the Olympic champion from the same qualifying game. After a convincing 4-0 victory against Trinidad and Tobago, the matter was settled. The USA seized early on one of the North and Central American World Cup places and now it is between Haiti and Jamaica about which team will take the last place.
Sweden is already qualified for the World Cup.
