Canada Indigenous leader declared first prisoner of conscience by Amnesty

This Friday, August 9th is the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. In Canada, in the westernmost province of British Columbia, an indigenous leader has just been designated Canada’s first political prisoner by the NGO Amnesty International. His only crime is to have peacefully mobilized against the construction of a gas pipeline that is to cross this province from east to west, over 670 km.
