In the summer, it can be nice to skip the shoes and instead walk around with socks or flip flops on your feet.

Can you drive with slippers?
The answer to the question of whether you can drive with slippers is neither yes nor no.
There is nothing in the traffic regulations that says it is illegal to drive a car with slippers on your feet. There is also nothing that prohibits you from driving barefoot.
Even though it’s not illegal to drive in slippers, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s okay.

May lead to fines
Although it is not illegal to drive barefoot, it may be inappropriate, as the driver is always responsible for having full control of the vehicle.
If you are barefoot or have loose-fitting slippers on your feet, you do not necessarily have as good control over the pedals as with normal shoes.
A slipper or flip flop can easily get stuck between the pedals when, for example, you move your foot from accelerator to brake. If you are barefoot, you risk having a worse grip on the pedals than with shoes on.

May lead to fines
The police recommend that you always have suitable shoes on your feet when driving.
If the police during a traffic stop or an accident believe that your choice of shoes means an obstacle to driving your car in a safe manner, you can also be fined for negligence in traffic.
Everything is also relative. Taking off your heels and driving barefoot, for example, probably means that you have better control over the car.
However, in this case it is still better to have a pair of low shoes with you to change into when it’s time to get behind the wheel.
