A week before the launch of Vessel of Hatred, the new expansion for Diablo 4, Blizzard is dropping a new live-action trailer. It shows the jungles of Nahantu and the Spiritborn – and ensures that fans want a whole film about it.
The first expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred, will be launched on October 8, 2024. You can download the update in advance – many of you already do so today. In the new live-action trailer, Blizzard shows the new Nahantu area and dynamic battles of the new class Spiritborn.
Many fans seem to be happy about the almost 2-minute trailer and think: Blizzard should definitely make a whole film or series.
This is what a film adaptation looks like: In his new book, Bloomberg employee Jason Schreier provides insights into the gaming industry and especially Blizzard. There was actually a series in production for Diablo. However, the projects were canceled when the streaming provider began poaching employees from Activision Blizzard.
Trailer shows the Spiritborn’s ghost skills
What does the trailer show? The trailer begins with Neyrelle embarking on a journey with the Soul Stone. When she reaches into the water, you can see a black trail running through the area in the water, down to the land and over the plants and trees.
At the same time we see the Spiritborn – the spirit-born in Nahantu. They get ready for the fight they sense. In the next sequence they are attacked by various monsters. Neyrelle, still sitting in the boat, seems to be fighting against the influence of the soul stone.
Meanwhile, we see dynamic battles of the Spiritborn, who defend themselves against the demons with their glaives and their spirits. One fighter calls a jaguar into battle, another a giant centipede that spits poison at the monsters. Finally, an eagle spirit sweeps the remaining monsters from the battlefield.
The trailer ends with black tears flowing from Neyrelle’s eyes – and the words “Deliver us from evil” appear.
How do the fans react? Fans are reacting quite differently to the new live-action trailer. Some of them note that they would like to see a film or series:
Other fans criticize the music selection. On YouTube, TheDethsight writes: “Is it too much to ask that Diablo’s music department make their OWN music and not just cover a song and put it in a trailer where it doesn’t really fit?”
On Instagram, however, fans celebrate the music in the trailer. latinfosi writes: “Camila Cabello’s voice fits really well!!! So good!” And raphael_love333 thinks: “Camila in a video game soundtrack is crazytttt!” The singer writes on X that she is so excited to cover a classic by “The Who” for this beloved game.
Recently, Blizzard showed off Vessel of Hatred’s gameplay, boss fights, and story sequences in a new trailer. Here too, many fans were apparently already concentrating on the choice of music and were anything but enthusiastic.
