The Utrecht city council is positive about the action plan of mayor Sharon Dijksma. There was, however, some criticism from some council members. “Street harassment is tackled on the street. A lot of money is now being spent on awareness, so the campaigns and workshops, but investments must be made in the approach on the street, so that it really becomes safer there,” says council member Tess Meerding (VVD). “For example, focus more on enforcement. That way you show that something is really happening on the street,” said council member Bert van Steeg (CDA).
