When electricity becomes expensive, it becomes tempting to charge a mobile phone, bicycle or electric car at work instead of at home.
In Denmark, there has been debate as to whether this could mean theft. This after a department head at Fredriksberg municipality sent a mass email in which he believed that charging electric bicycles and e-readers at work can be equated with theft, according to Swedens radio.
What is the law in Sweden then?
– When it comes to phones, I think you can definitely charge them, as there are so many people who have them as their work tool, says Lawyer and labor law expert Jenny Söberg.
– Charging your electric car at work can be likened to the example of not charging your petrol car with the employer’s fuel, she continues.
