According to Valve’s boss, Gabe Newell, Steam is willing to adapt the Game Pass system to its platform with Microsoft.
Rather than replicating the Steam Game Pass system, working with Microsoft Adding EA Play to Steam It plans to host Game Pass as well. A few days ago, we received the news that the Bethesda Launcher will be closed and the games will be transferred to the Steam library.
Intended to include Steam Game Pass as well
When asked if Steam plans to build its own Game Pass system, Valve boss Gabe Newell replied:
“I don’t think it’s necessary to set up a custom subscription system from scratch. But for Microsoft Gamepass users, bringing Gamepass to Steam could be a big step forward and we’re ready to work on it yesterday.”
So, although we may not see a “Steam Pass” system anytime soon, it seems inevitable that Valve, which is currently focusing on Steam Deck, will work with Phill Spencer to adapt Game Pass to its ecosystem at some point. However, this process can of course bring some problems. For example, Game Pass versions of some games that are also released on Steam do not support DLSS or Ray-Tracing.
Gabe Newell stated that he had discussed this issue with Phil Spencer before and they discussed how to implement this idea.
