CAN 2022. Considered two of the favorites of this CAN, Senegal and Morocco fought but qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.
[Mis à jour le 25 janvier 2021 à 21h54] Senegal and Morocco are qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations after their victories against Cape Verde and Malawi. Against Cape Verde, the big favorite of the competition had all the trouble in the world to win, even at 11-9. It was finally a splendid goal from Sadio Mané then a goal in added time from Dieng that gave victory to Aliou Cissé’s men.
In the other match, Morocco was also hooked by Malawi. Led quickly to score, the Moroccans reversed the trend thanks to En-Nesyri in added time of the first period and the Parisian Hakimi in the 70th minute. The two nations will therefore face each other on Sunday evening for a place in the last four of this CAN.

The African Cup of Nations usually takes place every two years, in odd years, so as not to collide with the World Cup or the Euro, but for this 33rd edition had to be postponed from 2021 to 2022 due constraints linked to the health crisis. In addition, after programming in summer during the previous edition, CAN 2022 finds more usual dates, in winter, from January 9 to February 6.
The 2022 African Cup of Nations is hosted by Cameroon. This is the second time in history that the competition has been organized by the country after that of 1972.
This 2022 African Cup of Nations will take place in two stages: first the group matches, from January 9 to 20, then the final phase with the round of 16 from January 23 to 26, the quarter-finals on January 29 and January 30, the semi-finals on February 2 and 3, then the match for third place and the final on Sunday, February 6, 2022. The first two of each group and the four best third will qualify for the round of 16. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will decide between them: the greatest number of points obtained during the match between the two teams, then the best overall goal difference, then the best attack. If two nations are still tied, then a draw is made. Here is the full schedule:
