The sixth final day of the World Championships saw one Finnish record and an interruption in the heat.
Viivi Lehikoinen ran the Finnish record
In the 400-meter hurdles, we saw a wonderful Finnish result, when Viivi Lehikoinen set a new Finnish record. Lehikoinen ran a time of 54.60, with which he improved Tuija Helanderin Finnish record held in the name by two hundredths.
– A bit confused feelings. The record has been talked about so much that it was more of a relief when it finally came into my own numbers. I enjoy that atmosphere more, Lehikoinen told Urheilu.
Richardsson was exhausted in the heat
Camilla Richardson had to stop the women’s 5,000m heat after about 3,400m. The Finn, who had been running his own performance with his tail, looked painful for a long time, and he was eventually brought to the stadium.
– I tried to make my own run. The tip started hard. I thought they would freeze in the heat, but it happened that I froze, Richardsson commented on his suspension.
– I’m fine. Now I just couldn’t stand this heat.
We ran at the stadium in brutal, around 30-degree temperatures and in direct sunlight. Sports coach for the endurance trips of the sports association Janne Ukonmaanaho didn’t understand why the heats had to be run at this time.
– It would have been 20 degrees in the morning and that would have been really good. Now we are in the hottest moment, 34 degrees and in direct sunlight. After two hours, the conditions would have been really good, Ukonmaanaho said.
In the early rounds, Ethiopia, who had previously celebrated the World Championship gold with ten tons, kept the fastest pace Letesenbet Gidey at 14:52,27. The last place in the final came with a time of 15:00.98, while Richardsson’s record is 15:30.08.
The Chinese surprise won the World Championship gold
In the women’s hockey final, we saw a real surprise when China Feng Bin, 28, made a throw that was enough for the world championship on his first. Feng Bin threw a result of 69.12, with which he improved his own record by more than three meters.
The Chinese was only 17th in Tokyo. Before Oregon, Feng had finished fifth at the World Championship level at best in Doha.

The duller medals went to Ethiopia when Werkuha Getachew achieved silver and Mekides Abebe bronze. A Bahraini who tripped at the last water obstacle Winfred Yavi was left fourth. Before the final, Yavi held the top time in the world this season.
Sanne Erkkola missed the qualification
Javelin thrower Sanne Erkkola was the athlete with the second last result in the qualification, and therefore did not reach the final. Erkkola’s best throw in the first round was 52.04 meters.
Erkkola’s record of 60.18 is from the Oulu ranking competition in June.
– It does look pretty awful! Erkkola commented on his throw with a laugh.
Erkkola had problems with technology. He admitted that the tension could show a little in the takes.
