Cameroonian All-Star interior Pascal Siakam will be transferred from the Toronto Raptors to the Indiana Pacers, where he will join point guard Tyrese Haliburton, several American media reported on Wednesday. Several media including ESPN and The Athletic announced the transfer of Siakam, in exchange for Bruce Brown Jr., Jordan Nwora and several draft picks.
Siakam, 29, who averages 22.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season, strengthens the interior sector of the Indiana Pacers, good surprise of the year in the NBA. Led by their leader Tyrese Haliburton and a flamboyant offensive game (best NBA team in points and assists per game), the Pacers are in 6th place in the Eastern Conference (23 wins – 17 losses) and have reached the final of the new Cup NBA in December, won by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Siakam, twice selected for the All-Star Game (2020 and 2023) and crowned champion in 2019 with the Raptors, will however have to wait to debut his new duo with Haliburton, since the latter was injured on January 9 (injury to a hamstring) and is expected to miss at least another week of competition. The Cameroonian was drafted in 2016 by the Raptors and had never left the Canadian franchise since his arrival in the NBA.
