Cameroon: a scientific conference to help planters in the face of climatic disturbances

Cameroon a scientific conference to help planters in the face

Faced with the disarray of small planters, the CICC, the Interprofessional Cocoa and Coffee Committee, organized an international scientific conference in Yaoundé this week. Cameroon is the third cocoa producing country in Africa. But for a decade, the intensification of hot periods or the irregularity of rains, has led to excess mortality of cocoa plants on farms. To help producers, the CICC proposes to review the logic implemented until now and to no longer base the agricultural calendar on fixed periods, but on the behavior of the plant.
