The other day, the Norwegian skiing legend came Peter Northug with the most unexpected confession. He is homeless right now, or between two houses if you would put it that way.

The outspoken Norwegian has sold his home and is building a new house. But right now he has to look for somewhere new to sleep.

Then an old rival extends a helping hand. Calle Halfvarsson have for many, many years argued with Northug both on the ski tracks and on the sidelines.

Halfvarsson’s words
They have heckled, taunted and sent sneers at each other throughout their careers and really fueled the rivalry between neighboring countries Sweden and Norway. Now this weekend they actually meet again during the roller skiing competition Alliansloppet in Trollhättan.

And it’s a Northug that comes in great shape.
– He does it damn well. Incredibly good, actually, Halfvarsson admits to SportExpressen.
– But he also trains like hell. I almost think he exercises more than when he was active. I don’t understand where he gets his motivation from? But Petter has a pretty nice bank account. So he can do whatever he wants and just train all day without thinking about anything else.

Then Calle is reminded of what is happening in Northug’s life right now and he himself has seen the news about the housing situation.
– Yes, I saw that. Maybe it’s not so good in that bank account anyway?, says the Swede in the interview and makes a nice offer to his arch-rival.
– Petter can stay with me – I have a guest room. Two even. So it’s going great!
