William Poromaa has been making a lot of headlines lately.
National team colleague Calle Halfvarsson is not entirely happy with that.
– Drive on instead, says Halfvarsson to NRK.
The temperature has increased in recent days between Swedish cross-country skiing and biathlon. Some outbursts in an SVT series led to a war on social media, which has now also started a spat in the media.
Biathlon vs cross-country skiing
We take it from the beginning. The cross-country skier William Poromaa totally saw biathlon when he was a guest on the program “Kallprat”. His actions have spread in the skiing world, and got the French biathlete Quentin Fillon Maillet to post a mocking post on Instagram, which also included Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsilouma.

Poromaa couldn’t help but respond with an Instagram post of his own, and the fight has since continued in front of the interview microphones. Sebastian Samuelsson tells SVT that he “had speared” Poromaa and that biathlon is more healthy than cross-country skiing.
Halfvarsson is less
But Poromaa sticks to his opinion, and describes biathlon as “a B sport” for NRK. The 23-year-old’s criticism has reached the biathlon star Johannes Thingnes Böwho, however, take it easy.
– He is a “showman”, he. Those are healthy statements. But we are the A-sport of us, and he probably knows that deep down, says Thingnes Bö to the Norwegian channel’s website.

The war of words has also reached Poromaa’s national team colleague Calle Halfvarssonwhich shakes its head at both sides’ statements.
– They are two “mini-putt sports” both, it is stupid to talk about which is the biggest. It’s just ridiculous. They can stop fooling around, drive on instead, says Halfvarsson to NRK.
