Calle Halfvarsson’s cheeky pass to Johannes Hösflot Kläbo – now says what no one in Norway wants to hear

Calle Halfvarsson is looking forward to another ski season.
And there’s really nothing wrong with his confidence.
When the skiing Swede sends a clear pass to Norwegian rival Johannes Hösflot Kläbo.

It has been many tough years for the Swedish hope Calle Halfvarsson recent years. But the last ski season was a big revenge for the cross-country skier who really found his harmony and self-confidence again.

Suddenly it was fun to ski again and then the good results came back. The 34-year-old really impressed at the World Cup last season and collected several impressive podiums during the winter.

The words about Kläbo

Calle Halfvarsson made up with his younger teammate William Poromaa in a pure blue-yellow sprint duel for the WC bronze. With just a second, Halfvarsson was unfortunately beaten by Poromaa, who in turn took the very first WC medal of his career.

But this awakened something in the Swedish veteran, who then made the decision to extend his career and continue competing for another season. Now charging for his 15th season at the World Cup, he sees a bright future ahead of him.
– I think it looks bright, even though I’m getting a little older. But I still feel young and it feels strange that I am 34 years old. I don’t feel like 34, I feel more like 24 in my body. Nah, but it feels good and there was no thought that I wouldn’t drive for another year, he says in an interview with Radiosporten.

One of the reasons for continuing his elite effort is the challenge of defeating the ski king Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. The Norwegian was again incomparably good last season, but Halfvarsson is now saying the words that no Norwegian wants to hear – it is possible to win against Kläbo.
– Yes, I think so. Absolutely! It’s probably also a part of me that I wouldn’t have been able to continue and put in this time if I didn’t think it was possible. This year I have been close a few times and only one more level then it is possible to take him, says a confident Calle to the radio channel.
– Then it’s clear that you have to have equally good stuff and it has to be right for the day. Because he is extremely talented and everyone knows that. But it’s absolutely possible to take him and he actually got beaten a few times in the sprints during the year (last season), so it’s possible to take him.
