With the World Cup just a week away, Calle Halfvarsson hopes that the Norwegian home crowd is on his toes.
He wants them to burst him out when he is on the starting line.
– Then I will be more tagged by it, he says.
On Thursday, February 27, the Ski World Cup will start in Trondheim. Already on the first day, the sprint should be decided. Then the championship continues until March 9. On Wednesday, the Swedish riders talked to the media at a digital press conference where the Sports Bible attended.
When it was Calle Halfvarsson’s35, lucky to talk to the journalists, he received many questions about his relationship with the host nation Norway. Given that he has been running for so long and had a couple of dusts with Norwegian riders, especially Petter Northughe is well known in the country.

The Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen asked Calle about how he looks at that there will be thousands of Norwegian fans in place in Trondheim who may be bumping him out or whistles when he shows up on the starting line. He is actually going on the idea – and urges the Norwegians to give him shit. It gives him lighter fluid.
– Yes, I hope I will get it before starting, because then I will be triggered even more of it. It would be great if I get it before I start at 10 km classic, because then I will be more tagged by it. Rather than that it is quiet, he says.
It was almost ten years since the “conflict” between Calle and Northug was the hottest. After that, the Swede has become a character that the Norwegians love to hate. But they do it with love.
– I feel that I am almost more popular in Norway than I am in Sweden. It may have to do with what was with Petter Northug and the attitude and the answers I had towards him. I thought it was pretty fun and Petter thought so too. It probably went home in Norway, I think, of which I have quite a few who like me in Norway. It’s probably not just a burop, I hope, says Halfvarsson.

The distance that Halfvarsson looks forward to most at the World Cup is 10 km classic. The race runs on Tuesday, March 4, at 13.00. Then he hopes that the Norwegian audience is charged.
He’s too funny, Calle! Hope he never changes, we love that he is so open and dares to talk about everything. Good luck during the World Cup, Halfvarsson! We keep your thumbs for you.
