Neither William Poromaa nor Calle Halfvarsson managed to advance from the sprint qualifying in the Tour de Ski in Davos.
Now both are considering dropping out of the tour.
After three stages in Toblach, Italy, the Tour de Ski has moved on to Davos in Switzerland. There is a sprint and chase start on the schedule before the tour moves on for the finish in Val Di Fiemme.
Swedish fiasco
The sprint qualifying was a disappointment too William Poromaa, who before the stage in Davos was fourth in the overall tour. He finished in 54th place. The Swedish 23-year-old has his strengths in distance skiing, but says immediately after the qualifier that he is leaning towards not having a start in Thursday’s 20 kilometer pursuit start

Edwin Anger finished fourth, Johan Häggström ten and Emil Danielsson advanced to the quarter-finals as the 30th and last man. The other six Swedes left. Among them Calle Halfvarssonwho came to the tour straight from covid illness.
– This is probably the worst prologue I’ve done. I can’t stand anything, he says in Viasat’s broadcast.
– It’s tough, I have no energy. It won’t be enough when I’m this bad.
The success of the ladies
It was Swedish at the top in the ladies’ sprint qualifiers in the Tour de Ski in a sun-drenched Davos. Jonna Sundling be the fastest Lynn Svahn second and Maja Dahlqvist third. A message of strength for Dahlqvist, who has had a tough tour so far and is in 29th place after the three opening stages.

Johanna Hagström finished sixth. Also Moa Ilar, Frida Karlsson and Emma Ribom advanced to the quarterfinals. So did the American superstar and tour leader Jessie Diggins and the second overall, German Victoria Carl.
