Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is a complex game full of little subtleties that even experienced players may not be aware of. Of course, winning a game often depends on luck, but there are many things you can do to increase your chances of being the last team standing.
In this guide, we’ll go over eight key tips and tricks to help you survive Al Mazrah in Warzone 2.0.
Effective communication
Communication was very important in the original Warzone, and that hasn’t changed in the sequel. This is probably the most important thing to consider, as many armed conflicts are lost due to poor planning and communication. Make sure when and where you see an enemy and try to use your pings as effectively as possible.
Warzone 2.0A new feature in . is close chat, which can be extremely useful when reaching a new area. You’ll be able to hear enemy players talking to each other, and if you do, try to stay quiet so they don’t hear you – this will allow you to sneak up on them with ease. Likewise, you can use close chat to force an enemy player to give you all their money and gear, it’s a fun little feature.
Make your settings
Before even entering a match, we recommend adjusting your settings so that the game feels and plays as you expect it to. The main things you want to change are sensitivity, button layout, armor plate behavior and your field of view.
Stick to your team
For whatever reason, players love to get away from their teammates, which is almost always a recipe for disaster. Whether you’re playing with random players or a consistent team, you’ll want to make sure you always stay connected, even from the very beginning of the match.
Specifically, if you flag a landing spot and someone else pings the other, it might not be a bad idea to return to the other location to make sure everyone is together. Likewise, if your team is ready to move from a certain point, always try to go with them. With that in mind, it’s wise to constantly check your map to always be aware of your squad’s location.

Speaking of sticking to your team, we recommend staying in the match even after you’ve been eliminated. You’d be surprised how willing players are to get their teammates back at the end of a match. The thing is, it’s not that hard to win again in Warzone 2.0, so even with fewer teammates, your chances of coming back and winning aren’t as low as you might think. This is because enemy teams will likely miss players as well (due to players leaving the game), which balances the odds.
If you’re going to snipe, use the Victus XMR
In Warzone 2.0, sniping works differently than in the previous game. Except for a rifle, no sniper can take out a fully armored enemy in one hit. This rendered most sniper rifles ineffective compared to the way at least some of them worked on the last entry. The exception to this rule is the Victus XMR, a (free) powerful sniper weapon earned by upgrading the battle pass. It’s unclear if other sniper weapons will be powered up later, but for now we recommend sticking with the Victus XMR.
Stock up on supplies
The inventory system in Warzone 2.0 has been expanded, allowing you to carry a few of most items, even Self-Revive Kits and kill streaks. Depending on the type of backpack you have, you may even be able to carry a third weapon, which is invaluable in Warzone 2.0. One thing you should be aware of is that your stored gas masks actually lose their durability while on gas (even if you don’t wear them), so there’s no use keeping a few of them. However, you can drop them and come back to get them back before they lose their stamina, but that doesn’t always work in a practical sense. That said, it’s extremely important to keep your inventory stocked with Self-Revives, killstreaks, and an additional weapon.
Suppressors are not that useful
Unfortunately, suppressors are often a hindrance in Warzone 2.0. This is mainly because they impair the speed of aiming sights (ADS) and smoke from the gun, obscuring your view. Instead, we recommend opting for a muzzle break to reduce the smoke and provide some long-term benefits at the same time. You will still not appear on the minimap when firing an unsuppressed weapon, so there isn’t much of a downside to skipping this add-on type.
Change your ping colors
One of the biggest flaws of Warzone 2.0 is that the default ping color is white, which can often be difficult to track between buildings and other assets in the environment. Instead of sticking with the default ping, we recommend switching to something brighter. To do this, visit Color Customization from the UI menu and change Neutral to something like pink or purple so you can see your pings more clearly.
