Call of Duty introduces a pink-haired rapper and players are freaking out

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone you can now run around the maps as Nicki Minaj and finish off opponents. The reactions of the players are very divided, some love it, others are angry.

As part of the 50 Years of Hip-Hop event, a Nicki Minaj Season 5 skin bundle has moved to Call of Duty. The 40-year-old rapper, singer and actress is known as the “Queen of Rap”. She released her debut mixtape, Playtime Is Over, in April 2007, which also featured rapper Lil Wayne.

According to Kotaku, the bundle with the pink-haired rapper was announced a month ago. Ever since it became available, the “Barbz” have been moving into the game and posting clips on social media. “Barbz” is what Nicki Minaj calls her fan base.

For 20 € you get the following items in a bundle:

    Here’s how the community is reacting: Some are happy about the bundle in the Call of Duty shop, others find it “cringe”. Some are even angry. The black streamer and rapper keepupradio freaks out when she finally sees the bundle in the shop after several updates. You can see her happy reaction on Tiktok – Attention, loud!

    Nicki Minaj is my favorite artist. Every year she is the most streamed in my Spotify Wrapped. I was disappointed that she wasn’t in Fortnite, but just the fact that she’s in any video game I think is a huge achievement… the representation when it comes to playing as people you can relate to , makes the experience more fun.

    Other reactions are less enthusiastic. On Reddit, an August 24 post by oodKangaroo7446 appears to have received so many negative or inappropriate comments from users that the moderators of the gamingnews subreddit are closing the thread.

    In particular, users criticize the fact that the bundle was moved to the shop at all, although Nickmercs had previously removed it after a critical tweet. Because Nicki Minaj is also known for controversial statements, the users write there.

    The user HotChilliWithButter would have preferred completely different, “cooler” bundles: “It would have been cooler if it had been someone classic like Keanu or Arnold Schwarzenegger.” Others comment on the post with “Call of Fortnite.”

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is nearing the end of its life cycle. It is now clear: Modern Warfare 3 will be a direct successor this year. Season 5 should therefore be the penultimate live season for CoD MW2, which brings free new content into play.
