US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In the statement made by the White House regarding the meeting, “The two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza. “President Biden emphasized that attacks on humanitarian workers and the general humanitarian situation are unacceptable.”
In the statement, it was stated that Biden conveyed to Netanyahu that Israel should take concrete steps to protect civilians from harm and the safety of aid workers, and that Biden clearly stated that the US policy regarding Gaza depends on Israel taking these steps.
CALLED NEGOTIERS TO AUTHORIZATION
In the statement, it was stated that Biden underlined that an urgent ceasefire is essential to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation and protect innocent civilians, and called on the Prime Minister to authorize his negotiators to reach an agreement without delay to bring the hostages home. The two leaders also discussed Iran’s open threats to Israel and its people. “President Biden made clear that the United States strongly supports Israel in the face of these threats.”
The meeting between Biden and Netanyahu reportedly lasted less than 30 minutes.
