Aug. 31: TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) ON 0792 (West Lorne) is holding weekly meetings. Weigh-in every Wednesday at 6 pm at “The Hub”, 146 Munro St., West Lorne, behind the West Elgin Community Health Centre. TOPS ON 0792 (West Lorne) is a non-profit organization that encourages members to lose weight through education, exercise and healthy dieting.
Sept. 3, 4:18th annual Heritage Farm Show at the Backus-Page House Museum, 10 am to 4 pm Antique and vintage farm equipment, music, kids’ zone, food truck, ice cream, baked goods, museum tours, vendors, horse and wagon rides, and more . Sept. 13: West Lorne and Community Horticultural Society will be presenting “Make an Autumn Wreath with Ann” at 6 pm Pre-registration is $5. Sept. 17: Elgin Hiking Trail Club offers a guided hike on a section of the Dutton Dunwich Trans Canada Trail, at 10 am Beginning location is 28055 Lakeview Line. Call 519-762-2049 for further information.
Sept. 18: RCMP Musical ride coming to Mac Lilley Farms, 28322 Chalmers Line, Dutton. Gates open at 1:30 pm, show begins at 3 pm Tickets $10 for an adult, $5 for children ages five to 12. Children four and younger admitted free. This is an outdoor event. No pets allowed (as they may save the horses). Children must be accompanied by an adult. Vendors, food booths and displays also at the show. This is a non-profit event hosted by the Dutton Dunwich-West Elgin Community Fund, and Mac Lilley Farms.
